A former candidate of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been instructed to forfeit all the academic certificates he had acquired, including the result of the University Matriculation examination after he admitted to engaging in examination malpractices, 21 years ago.

The candidate, identified as Timipade Kemepade, had written a letter to JAMB titled: ‘Restitution on my JAMB Result 21 Years Ago’ seeking forgiveness for engaging in exam malpractice. Kemepade who says he is now a born-again Christian, blamed his misconduct on ”youthful exuberance”

However, the examination body rejected his apology and asked him to forfeit all the academic certificates he had acquired using the JAMB result.

JAMB REJECTS NABTEB A LEVEL AS ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR 2022 DE ADMISSION

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rejected the National Business and Technical Examinations Board( NABTEB) advanced level as an entry requirement for Direct Entry into tertiary institutions. The Board said the directive became necessary following the discovery that relevant government policies on A/ Level programmes do not permit NABTEB from conducting Advanced Level examinations.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Monday stated that it would refund N4,000 deposit paid by candidates who failed to complete the registration process for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and the Direct Entry Examinations.

The board made this known in its latest bulletin made available to The PUNCH on Monday by the board’s director of media and public relations, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

The bulletin partly reads, “This is to notify all 2021 candidates who had deposited a draft of four thousand naira (N4,000) for late registration for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry but were unable to complete the registration process owing to no fault of the Board, even after the Board had extended the registration period twice, to visit the Board’s Website https://www.jamb.gov.ng, and complete a form for the refund of the value of the draft they submitted to the Board.

“The above candidates are to click on the link 2021 UTME/DE Unregistered Candidates Bank Draft Recapture and fill the spaces after which they would key in the token sent to the phone numbers they had submitted during the submission of their drafts.

2022 UTME/DE: JAMB WANTS MORE NIGER, ADAMAWA, EIGHT STATES’ CANDIDATES TO REGISTER

Ahead of the registration procedures for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has called on the governors of Niger, Adamawa, Zamfara, Yobe, Taraba, Bayelsa, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and the Federal Capital Territory to improve on the “pitiable statistics” of enrolment in their respective states.

The board added that the states recorded registration statistics ranging from 0.01 per cent to 1.4 per cent of about 1.4 million candidates, who wrote its examinations in 2021.

The Registrar, JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, in the weekly bulletin of the board, which was released on Monday, was said to have sent a passionate appeal to the states involved.

The bulletin read in part, “As the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board prepares to commence the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry registration, the registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, has sent a passionate appeal to states with the least enrolment figures in the 2021 UTME and DE registration to put in extra efforts to enhance the registration statistics of candidates from their states.

“It will be recalled that the registrar first made this comment during the 2021 policy meeting when he rolled out the statistics for the 2021 UTME/DE registration, where the list of the 10 states with the least registration figures (Niger, Adamawa, Taraba and Bayelsa, Jigawa, Kebbi, Yobe, Sokoto, FCT and Zamfara) was released.

“According to him, these 10 states have registration statistics ranging from between 0.01 per cent to 1.46 per cent of the total registration figure of about 1.4 million candidates nationwide.

Prof. Oloyede, while addressing a group of stakeholders in his office on the need for equality in access to education, urged the governors of these states to do everything possible to improve on these pitiable statistics

“The registrar maintained that he was fully aware of the challenges being faced by these states, especially in terms of insecurity in most of the states mentioned, but appealed that education should be one of the channels of addressing some of these seemingly intractable issues.”

JAMB Directs Tertiary Institutions To Complete 2021 Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all tertiary institutions to complete the 2021 admission exercise.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all tertiary institutions to complete the 2021 admission exercise.

It said the call became necessary following a negligible number of fully – processed 2021 admissions on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) out of the teeming population of eligible candidates with the requisite qualification “yearning for admission.”

The Board said admissions for only 100,000 candidates have been processed out of the over 600,000 eligible candidates.

According to the weekly bulletin released by Head of Information and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin on Monday, JAMB’s Director of Admissions, Mohammed Ahmed, stated these while briefing some select institutional Desk Officers.

The director implored the desk officers to interact with their respective institutions to ensure that even if they are not ready for the students to resume, they can conduct such admissions prior to their respective chosen resumption dates to enable their candidates to know their fate.

Ahmed said the board was ready to roll out the 2022 unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) application documents, hence the need for Desk Officers to be proactive.

The director of admissions, during the meeting, expressed the resolve of the board to prevent candidates from incurring unnecessary expenses through buying new e -pins that they may not use if they are eventually admitted.

“The board is aware of the numerous challenges that have impacted the academic calendars of tertiary institutions as well as the smooth processing of admission requests but urged them to devise acceptable means of closing the gap and complete the 2021 admission exercise on schedule,” it said.

i

t would be recalled that over 1.4 million candidates registered for both the 2021 UTME and Direct Entry of which only about 600, 000 possessed the requisite qualifications to be admitted based on available records with JAMB.

Meanwhile, the board said it has changed the literature texts in four language subjects, including Literature – in – English ahead of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

WE WANT TO MAKE 2022 UTME REGISTRATION AND EXAMINATION THE BEST SO FAR – JAMB

The Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB) has vowed to make the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) the best so far.

In its weekly bulletin released last Monday in Abuja, the board said going forward, it is reasonable to expect that 2022 might turn out to be a very engaging year as most of the Board’s pre- examination activities are starting late owing to some circumstances beyond its control.

Giving stock of its activities in 2021, JAMB said the introduction of the National Identification Number (NIN) as a key requirement for UTME registration through its partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) was a game-changer in the fight against impersonation and other examination infractions.

It is to be noted that the decision to adopt NIN was a very difficult one given the various challenges and opposition from many quarters to the policy.

“However, the Board, seeing the many benefits associated with the deployment of NIN, took the unpopular but beneficial decision knowing that any departure from the norm would, more often than not, be met with initial opposition and rejection and was, therefore, understandably undeterred in its chosen course of action.

“Consequently, the Board gave its all to ensure that it secured the support of stakeholders and the result was the tremendous success it recorded in the 2021 UTME.”

JAMB FINALIZES LIST OF APPROVED CBT CENTERS FOR 2022 UTME

To ensure a successful outing in the upcoming 2022 UTME Registration and Examination exercises, the Information Technology Services Department of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has completed all necessary arrangements to release the list of approved Computer-Based Test centres.

At an interactive session with all the Heads of Divisions of the Department on Tuesday, 4th January 2022, Mr Fabian Okoro, the Director, reiterated the Board’s determination to have a hitch-free registration and examination exercise.

ADMITTED ON SCHOOL PORTAL BUT NOT ADMITTED ON JAMB CAPS– SEE WHY

“I have been offered admission on the school portal/website but Jamb CAPS portal says that I have not been admitted yet.“ Many candidates are currently having this issue at the moment. They have been offered admission by their schools of choice but yet their admission status on JAMB CAPS still shows “NOT ADMITTED”. If you have been offered admission on a school’s website or portal but you are yet to be admitted on JAMB CAPS portal, the information here is for you. Please read

The major reason for this is the fact that such candidates are yet to upload their O’level results on JAMB CAPS. Until your O’level results is uploaded on JAMB CAPS Portal, JAMB will not offer you any admission on their portal because you are simply not qualified for admission until you are able to provide your O’level result.

So we advise all candidates who are yet to be admitted on JAMB CAPS Portal even after their school of choice has offered them admission to immediately proceed to any accredited JAMB CBT centre or JAMB Office to upload their O’level results on JAMB Portal.

Even if you submitted your O’level results during JAMB Registration, you are advised to re-upload the results. Remember without JAMB giving you an admission, you cant print your JAMB Admission Letter and until you have a JAMB Admission Letter, your admission is not valid. All affected candidates are therefore advised to take this seriously or risk losing their admission.

After re-uploading your results, you are advised to check JAMB CAPS again after 3 days or 1 week to see if your admission status has changed to “ADMITTED”.

For detailed procedure on how to check your admission status on the JAMB Portal, check this link https://www.jamb.gov.ng/EfacilityLogin

Another Reason

Another reason could be that JAMB has not uploaded or updated the list of admitted candidates for your school of choice on JAMB CAPS. If that is the case, you may have to exercise patience and check regularly to see if the situation will change.

What If The Situation Remains The Same?

If after ensuring that your Olevel Result is correctly uploaded on JAMB CAPS and waited for a week or so and the situation remains the same. The next step will be to visit the admission office or the school that offered you admission.

This is because the problem may be from a mistake made by the school that offered you admission. Your name could have been mistakenly omitted or deleted from the final list that was sent to JAMB.

Whatever be the case, the school should be in a better position to rectify the problem. So if you have done your best and waited long enough and the situation remains the same, visit the school!
